Synopsis: In the 50s, in Montgomery, a small town in Alabama, racial and social prejudices are the order of the day. Odessa is a black woman who works as a maid in the house of Miriam Thompson, a white woman in a good position. Every day Odessa takes the bus to work, but after a boycott of blacks to the transport company, the woman has trouble moving. Despite racial prejudices, Miriam is cordial and good with Odessa, and the relationship between the two becomes increasingly close.
